If you drive around the homes of Spring Hill in Mobile, AL you’ll likely find pretty planters created by the wonderful Jade Sullivan. One of our goals here at The Squad is to connect with other business owners and we had the pleasure of doing just that with Jade.
We talked about all things small business. Like what she’s learned along the way and if she had any advice for our young entrepreneurs out there. It was such a treat!

Love your work. Set boundaries. Generosity goes a long way.How Jade Began
Jade loves flowers and gardening. When she ran out of room in her own yard, a friend recommended she make planters for others. And that’s how Plant Therapy by Jade was born.
Jade says it’s so important to love what you do because even when some jobs are not very profitable financially, they still bring her joy.
Know Your Worth: Time is Valuable
Jade learned over this past year that time is the most valuable. It takes time to create an idea, to shop for supplies, and to complete the project. It all adds up.
Be sure to include your time and effort to complete a project when creating your pricing- not just the supplies.
Spreading Joy with Flowers
Jade’s favorite part of her job is bringing JOY to others by brightening up their homes with pretty flowers.
She also loves the fact she has been able to meet so many new friends that she may not have met otherwise.
Some people she has done their planers. Others she has connected with through small business collaborations.
Collaborations and Encouragement
Jade has been able to meet and collaborate with other small businesses. She now has a new respect for the value of items made by small businesses and supports others as often as she can.
She loves the positivity and support that entrepreneurs give each other. “We encourage each other, and bounce ideas off of one another with the common goal of helping each other rise to success together”, she says.
Importance of Boundaries
Jade says that we sometimes have to struggle and mess up to learn especially when it comes to boundaries. We want to do so much for everyone else that we sometimes sacrifice ourselves or our family.
So, it’s important to know your priorities and learn how to carve time for work, school, family, and fun. This means we sometimes have to say no or not right now. It’s important to set boundaries and expectations for clients. They will respect you for it and you will be less stressed and happier.
Good Customer Service
When running a business, you will work with people with many different personalities. It is important to be kind, generous, and direct.
Generosity goes a long way. People want to share you and your work with others when you take care of your customers.
